My Good Idea File

Today’s rambling:

Meeting with my aunt and uncle from LA this evening.    Have not seen them in…………it has been a while.  It will be nice to catch up.

On that note, I should get out to LA soon.  All it costs is the flight.  Maybe I can find a half marathon out there this winter.

I’ll add that to my “good ideas” file.

Right now my good idea file consists of:

Don’t drink too much

Eat well

Go on vacation after you run your marathon

Go to LA and run a half marathon.

Australia

I’m wearing cuff links today.  My mother buys them for me every  Christmas (they are “from” my little sister, but I have my doubts if she is going to Tiffany’s to pick out men’s dress wear accessories.  I would be scared to bring my little sister (aka The Tornado) into Tiffany’s for fear of bankrupting destruction)

I like them.  They look sharp (as my grandfather would say).  I always feel better about myself when I look good.

This is my week to relax.  Eat. Drink. Be merry.  Not workout.

So what did I do last night?

Walked home – 2 miles

Ate a salad

Went to the gym – 45 minutes of cardio and did circuit training for 40 minutes.

Went home – Wrote, ate chick peas, went to bed.

Crazy, crazy night for Andrew.   Especially eating all of those chick peas.

One of my friends is trying to back out of going camping.  Nope, not happening.  I’m going camping.  I’m going to wrestle a bear.  I’m going to disconnect from all technology for 36 hours.  I’m going to enjoy nature.  Then I’m going to go home and thank the good lord that we have advanced to a place where I do not have to live outside.

It just hit me that I’m going to have to bring non-meat items to eat while I’m up there.

Cliff Bars

Cans of chick peas (the best food ever)

Maybe some fruit

Beer

If this does not scare you………….

It should.

In essence companies will be able to pay for their websites to gain preference and speed over the internet.  Think about that, there will be about 200 companies controlling all of the content over the web.

There would be a two – tiered internet system with a fast lane and a slow lane. Companies paying higher rates to the internet service providers would have their web pages delivered to internet users in the current “speedy” fashion.  Companies (and in my opinion……..MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY) individuals that do not pay the service providers would be relegated to the slow lane.

This has the potential to change the way the internet processes information.

The big players here are Google, Verizon, and Comcast.  Not exactly surprising.

I have decided to ask people for advice more often.

My Passport came in the mail yesterday.  I can now travel the world yet once again.  Or at the very least I will be allowed in Canada for my best friend’s bachelor party.

My picture looks like it was taken at a Duane Read by a woman standing on a shopping basket.  Oh, wait…..it was.

I am trying to get a good friend of mine to run the Jersey City half marathon with me.

1. He is married and has a small child so I thought it would be a great way for us to spend some time together.

2. It would be a great way for us to spend time together outside of a bar

3. Be nice to have someone to keep a training log with.  Even if we only did a run together once every couple of weeks.

If anyone else is interested let me know.

In my good deed for the day…….

I helped a blind man get across the street and once we got across I asked him where he was going.  We were both heading to the subway so he held my arm as we walked along.  We chatted about the weather.

It made me realize how lucky I am to be in good health.
