Marathon Training – Day 1

by agoodnow

I began marathon training tonight.

Houston, we have a problem.

I ran a casual 3.5 miles and my IT band was having none of it.   This could be bad.  But fuck it.  That is why God made Advil.

Worse comes to worse I get a cortisone shot and bang it out.  I know I can run the distance, it is a matter of my body keeping up.

I held off running as long as I could, but I had to start training.  So we’ll just have to see how this goes….

Need to buy a new pair of sneakers.  Maybe really heavy high tops so I will look cool when I run.

I have a new nickname: Thunderbike.

Thanks Rob.

A text conversation I had tonight:

MB: Game winning hit in the bottom of the last with two out.  I did something right this weekend

AG: It is called Andrew Goodnow syndrome.  People get it when they hang out with me.  It makes them awesome.

MB: You should bottle that shit up.  Sell it on the streets

I just might……..

I made mac and cheese tonight.  It was given to me by people on the streets.  Not bad.

The letter to 18 year old Andrew works really well into one of the books I’m writing.  I might use it as the intro.

If anyone in NYC has a copy of Catcher in the Rye I would like to borrow it.

Thanks.

No more drinking after September 19th. Going dry again.  Lord have mercy on my soul.

I enjoy walking home from work in the evening.  It is pleasant once I get out of the hustle of midtown.

One of the true pleasures of living in Manhattan.

I feel better after running tonight.
