Meat eating and moderation

by agoodnow

Last night I ate a steak.  A really good steak.  It was just about perfect.  I’m glad I’m eating meat again.  It makes me happy and provides so many more dining choices (though I still have not been eating chicken.  Not sure why.)

I don’t know about you, but sitting in a steakhouse, enjoying a great meal, a glass of red wine, and good company in the midst of a blizzard is about as good as it gets.

I’m getting used to the snow.   It isn’t that big of a deal.  New York City is really good at cleaning up the snow and quite frankly I live in New York City.  This is what I signed up for.  You deal with what happens here.  If you don’t like it I hear the suburbs are quite lovely.

On to more important topics…..

My cousin is getting married this weekend.  I will be flying into Portland, ME tomorrow afternoon.  A quick flight (I think just over an hour)  It will be nice to see my family.  Most everyone will be there.  The only thing is….I don’t really know her fiance.  I have only met the guy once and that was a brief encounter.  Too bad, it would be nice to know the guy.   My cousin and I are the same age and have always been close.  She seems to be incredibly happy.  That’s all that matters.

Notes:

I need a vacation.

I would like to go to a sporting event soon.

I turn 29 next week.  It has me doing some thinking.  Sort of a state of the Andrew kind of reflection.  Where am I?

Supposed to run the DC marathon in late March.  Not exactly ready for it, but I have 2 months left.  I think I’ll get there.

I started making a new meal.  It is like a salad without the lettuce.  Red pepper, cucumber, Portobello mushroom, chick peas, carrot, feta cheese, onion, olive oil, balsamic…….and you have a healthy, yet tasty snack.

Moderation.  Trying to do everything in moderation.  I need to continue to tell myself that.  Last night was the perfect example.  I woke up this morning and felt great (after my coffee that is), I was productive, and still had a great time.

I walked up the opposite side of the street on my way to the subway this morning.  Amazing how such a small change provides such a different perspective.  It kind of made me laugh.

I had some pretty good coffee this morning.  Made it myself. (The trick is just a touch of soy milk.  Gives a nutty taste.)

Big day tomorrow.  Need a good night’s sleep.  (thought I know I will not fall asleep until at least 2 am.  Just how it goes for me.)
