Midnight Movie

Notes from the day that was –

RIP Blockbuster store on 1st Ave.  A sad day.  I enjoyed going in to browse.  Oh well, what can you do?  Technology destroying an in person experience.  I went in and purchased a full season of Entrourage for  $15.99.    But only after looking around for about a half hour.  (What I really wanted was the third season of Dexter or the second season of United States of Tara)

Great workout yesterday………WITH all of the New Years resolutioners  (pretty sure that isn’t a word and spell check agrees).  I think people are sticking with it a little longer than usual this year.  Gym is a lot more full this year than last year at the same time. Inconvenient for me, but good for them.  You can tell the people who just started working out.  They are limping, moving slow, and otherwise angry to be there.  I have a lot of respect for someone who drags him or herself to the gym under such circumstances.

I was supposed to run a race this morning.  However, registration was closed yesterday when I went to sign up.  Oh well…..so that meant I could go out last night.  Instead of going to a bar I went to an independent movie theatre on the Lower East Side and saw an Alfred Hitchcock film at midnight.  Rear Window.   So glad I did so.  It was fun.  I brought a beer in with me and watched Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly for a couple of hours.  A real treat.  I never realized how striking Grace Kelly was.   Not 100% on this, but good chance she is the most beautiful woman who ever set foot on earth.   (I think Alfred Hitchcock about ruined his life in pursuit of her)

After the movie I waited for the F train for 23 minutes, watched a kid vomit on the platform and then try to spit on a rat, and saw all of the girls who were “dressed up” for the night……….WHICH brings me back to Grace Kelly. What happened to elegant beauty?  I’m all about looking at hot women.  Don’t get me wrong here BUT  it is OK to leave something to the imagination.   I think that art form has been lost amongst the Jersey Shore, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan culture we emersed ourselves in.   I think that I’ve come to the point where I know what kind of girl wants to put herself on display and a girl who…………I don’t know……has real self-confidence.

I must be getting old.

I refuse to turn on my TV today.  I have no interest in watching any Super Bowl pre-game coverage.  NONE.  So I’m going to do laundry and write.
