So I’m just about out. I moved my belongings out of my apartment in Manhattan today. To be quite honest, it wasn’t all that upsetting. Maybe it was that I woke up at 7:30 this morning to the sounds of construction workers hammering on metal. Maybe it is that I have been in one building for four years. Maybe it is that I’m bored. Maybe I knew I wasn’t really “utilizing” Manhattan and that if I was going to pay to live on the Upper East Side of New York City I better be going out and doing..I don’t know..stuff. As of right now I was spending my time job hunting, writing, and and going to the same places over and over. There wasn’t a whole lot of variation. And I was paying quite the premium for that. So I am taking a break from Manhattan. Going to Hawaii for a little while (where I hope to finish my second book).
After that…who knows? Maybe Queens, maybe Brooklyn, maybe (insert new city here).
It was a good four years. I still need to go back and do some cleaning so it is not the last I have seen of that apartment. I am going to have to clean three years of ….New York dust and you know “Andrew living”. I’m not really looking forward to that. They may just want to sterilize the place or ….ya know, light a match and be done with it. Might be easier.
Big thanks to Chris G., Steve, Durden, Annie and Heath (even though he is entirely useless as a human being) for helping with the move. Got it done in under two hours. Not too shabby.
